When it`s start the cholera epidemic in Lisbon it was built the Cemetery of Prazeres in 1833, it is one of the two big Cemeteries of the City and the most famous. The cemetery is with his 20 ha only the second biggest in Lisbon. The ways are in symmetric order beside the graves. The Cemetery is like a small City of death people. Some of the graves look like small churches or chapel’s. Here you will find the biggest family grave in Europe with around 200 family Members inside. It´s look like a Pyramid and will symbol the the Temple of Solomon.
In this Cemetery was the first place in Portugal where was made Autopsies outside of institutes, now is a part of Museum in the Chapel of the Cemetery. Further you will have a very great few to the “Ponte 25. Abril” from the Area of the Firefighter on the Cemetery. Before the Area was a Cemetery, it was a Place for relaxing. The Cemetery is the end station of the historical Tram line of 28.
