Sines part 2 – Historical Sines

In Sines was found traces of people from the Stone Age, so it is one of the oldest places of the world where humans live without a brake. Sines was visit in his long History by the Celtics, the Carthagians, the Romans, the Maurish and the Christians which give Sines back to the Kingdom of Portugal. The Portuguese national hero “Vasco da Gama” was born around 1469 in Sines. Vasco da Gama was the first who find a shipping way to India around the north cape of Africa. You will find some memorial Places of Vasco da Gama in Sines: the Castle where he was born; the Monument of Vasco da Gama beside the Castle and the Church São Salvador; The Church São Salvador, the Church Nossa Senhora das Salas which was build at the beginning of the 14th century and also the historical center of Sines. In and around Sines you can find some of beautiful beaches. Sines have today around 14´000 People and is a fisher’s place since all time’s.
