Pilgrimage Day 7: Sevilla to Santiago de Compostela, Spain

We had started a little later than the days before, it was about 08:30, because we knew it would be a shorter walking day. The day's route was 18 km to the beautiful town of Zafra.

The route was going across the Guillena and than across some Olive and Orange farms. Later come a stone trees wood and the sun burn with 24 degree's and no wind, like yesterday. Our water was going to end, but we had luck and on the route was a drinking water fountain.

After the Coffee we walked to the Cathedral of Sevilla to get our first stamp in our pilgrim credentials - we needed to wait until 8 am until the Cathedral open the doors.

Hermitage “our Lady of the Incarnation” – Calzadilla de los Barros, Spain

On the outskirt of the town, there is a beautiful hermitage build in honor of the Patron of Calzadill de los Barros, Our Lady of the Incarnation (XVI century).

Serpa, The white City – Portugal

Because the White houses in the old town the city will be called also white city. The first traces of human settlement date back to 3000 years before Christ. Serpa is definitely a city that deserves a visit with its over 5000 years of history from the medieval time, the Muslim takeover, the Spanish-Portuguese wars.
