This content details a pilgrimage along the Camino de Santiago from Sevilla to Santiago de Compostela, undertaken from November 11 to December 17, 2022, across 37 stages. My predictable and unforgettable Camino Via de la Plata ends at the foot of the magnificent cathedral of Santiago de Compostela.
The stage ends after 17 km in the small village of Outeiro, where there are no services, in an idyllic rural setting with a good Xunta hostel.
It is an unspectacular stage, the highlight of which is the crossing of a bridge that is over 1000 years old.
A long but easy stage through mountainous, green and rural Galicia, through small villages and towns. Despite its length of 34 km, the stage ran without any problems.
Today I set off in dry weather and a warm 14 degrees. Right at the start of my approx. 21 km route, the road climbs steeply for 2 km.
The day began with very heavy rain, which lasted for several hours. There was also a stormy wind. After about 8 km, there were no more markings at a crossroads.
It took me just over 2 hours to cover the 4 km, as the path was criss-crossed by rivers and streams. You had to be careful not to go swimming.
A long stage of 37.5 km with beautiful landscapes, through roads, country lanes and road sections. Today is characterized by the ascent to Padornelo (1,365 m) with 360 metres of altitude difference over 9 kilometers.
Today's stage was 25.5 km long. The weather was not so good, it rained for several hours and my shoes were as wet as in a swimming pool.
It was a very short stage of 16 km to take the opportunity to do some laundry.
A cultural gem is the Romanesque church of Santa Marta de Tera, which houses a stone statue of the Pilgrim of St. James, considered the oldest statue of the saint.
Quiet and pleasant stage of 35.6 km in a solitary environment with moderate slopes.
I walked 31.6 km on a more or less flat path between fields and highway 66.
Long stage with 31.6 km to Zamora, with few roads worth mentioning and one stopover: Villanueva de Campeán, with all services.
