With circa 800 hectare is the “Parque Florestal de Monsanto” the biggest Park of Lisbon and is in the West of the City. Originally, the area was used for agriculture, which led to large-scale erosion. In 1930, it was decided to reforest Monsanto. In 1934, the new Monsanto Park was established along with some sports and recreational facilities. Further Monsanto have a Camping place and a Motor-Circle and some of viewing points.
